Businesses establishing at a commercial or industrial location in Unity must submit a Development Permit Application to the Unity Town Office and be approved prior to commencing. As an added incentive, businesses located in commercial properties in Unity are not required to purchase a municipal business license.
Businesses located outside of Unity (as well as contractors in Unity who do not operate from a physical industrial or commercial property) who are wanting to do business in Unity must complete a Business License Application and be approved and licensed prior to doing business in Unity.
Individuals in Unity who are wanting to start a home-based business must submit a Home-based Business Application to the Unity Town Office. **Note that home-based businesses are discretionary uses in the Town of Unity and therefore notice of the intent to establish a home-based business will be given to a number of the prospective home-based business's neighbours, and consideration and potential approval at a future Unity Town Council meeting by Council will be required prior to the operation of any home-based business in Unity.
