 TOWN OF UNITY- Contract Opportunity : Casual Landfill Attendant

The Town of Unity invites applications from persons interested in the above position. This would be a month-to-month contract. 

 

Reporting to the Public Works Director, the successful applicant will be involved in inspecting all loads being delivered to the Landfill and charging Tipping Fees according to the “Tipping Fee Chart” which is posted on the wall inside the Landfill Office. All duties regarding the Casual Landfill Attendant will be based on some but not all the associated duties already set in place for the Permanent Landfill Custodian which is also posted at the Landfill Office as follows:

 

  • Count cash float at start of shift to ensure $100 is available.
  • Allow access by the public to the Landfill Site in accordance with thw posted hours of operation.
  • Physically inspect ALL waste materials to be deposited in the Landfill Site
  • Determine what the Tipping Fees shall be per load according to the Tipping Fee Chart and inform the customer. Collect the fees and issue receipt.
  • Direct the customer to the area of the Landfill where that particular load is to be deposited.
  • Keep accurate records on “Daily Log Sheet” and at the end of the shift, lock the gates and remit the daily proceeds to the Public Works Director.

 

Skills

 

-                      Minimum Grade 12.

 

-                      Cash handling skills.

 

-                      Able to work under minimal supervision.

PUBLIC WORKS LABOURER II

 

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Labourer II will be involved in

 

  • Solid Waste Collection
  • Manual labour
  • All other duties as detailed by the Director or his representative
  • Salary in accordance with CUPE #2752 wage grid as negotiated

Qualifications and Credentials

 

  • Preferred Gr 12 or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of operation of municipal sanitation equipment
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and Current Drivers abstract
  • Air Brake endorsement would be an asset, or willing and able to obtain within 6 months of hiring
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Able to use power tools efficiently and safely
  • Criminal Record Check

TORQ Transloading- Terminal Operator

 

Torq Transloading (www.torqtransloading.com) operates oilfield fluids and materials transloading and logistics terminals in Western Canada, providing truck-to-rail and rail-to-truck transloading, with an emphasis on strong, safe and aligned relationships with producers, marketing companies, and short line and Class 1 railways.

Torq is looking for aTransload Terminal Operator as soon as possible to operate at our Unity, SKtransload terminal. This terminal is focussed on transloading crude oil from tank trucks to railcars. Loading Frac Sand from railcars to trucks and Butane from railcars to trucks

Torq considers the following to be strong assets of the chosen candidate:

  • Safety first attitude
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Rail car switching and locomotive experience would be a strong assist but willing to train
  • Experience operating heavy equipment 
  • Physically demanding at times and able to lift more than 50lbs
  • Mechanically inclined with good trouble shooting skills
  • Class 5 Licence
  • Oilfield experience and/or knowledge.
  • First Aid, H2S, TDG and WHIMIS certificates
  • Railway Association of Canada (RAC) certification (provided by Torq Transloading)
  • Railway experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.
