UNITY - Second World War veteran and volunteer extraordinaire 93-year-old Silas “Si” Campbell is Unity’s 2017 Citizen of the Year. The announcement was made and the plaque presented to Campbell at the Western Days Friday night supper at the Agroplex June 2 in front of a crowd of just over 200.
Visibly touched by receipt of the award, Si said, although it might be hard for people to believe, he was at a loss for words. He graciously thanked the committee and the community, saying this was “a great honour, one of the biggest ones in my life.
