PUBLIC WORKS LABOURER II

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Labourer II will be involved in

  • Solid Waste Collection
  • Manual labour
  • All other duties as detailed by the Director or his representative

Salary in accordance with CUPE #2752 wage grid as negotiated

Qualifications and Credentials:

  • Preferred Gr. 12 or equivalent
  • Valid minimum Class 5 drivers license (with current drivers abstract)
  • Air Brake endorsement would be an asset, or willing and able to obtain within 6 months of hiring
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Able to use power tools efficiently and safely
  • Must be willing to continue upgrading education towards advancement in position
  • Must be willing to work occasional overtime when emergency situations arise
  • Ability to effectively interact with residents
  • Applicants must provide minimum of 3 references and contact #’s
  • Must also provide Criminal Records Check (available through RCMP)

Unity Skating Club- Coach

Unity Skating Club is looking for a Star 1 - 5 (or higher) certified coach for the 2017/2018 season.  The applicant must be a coach in good standing.  Our STARSkate program runs October 12th, 2017 to March 22nd, 2018 on Monday and Thursdays 5:00 - 7:25.

Torq Transloading- Transload Terminal Operator 

Torq Transloading (www.torqtransloading.com) operates oilfield fluids and materials transloading and logistics terminals in Western Canada, providing truck-to-rail and rail-to-truck transloading, with an emphasis on strong, safe and aligned relationships with producers, marketing companies, and short line and Class 1 railways.

Torq is looking for a Transload Terminal Operator as soon as possible to operate at our Unity, SK transload terminal. This terminal is focussed on transloading crude oil from tank trucks to railcars. Loading Frac Sand from railcars to trucks and Butane from railcars to trucks

Torq considers the following to be strong assets of the chosen candidate:

  • Safety first attitude
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Rail car switching and locomotive experience would be a strong assist but willing to train
  • Experience operating heavy equipment 
  • Physically demanding at times and able to lift more than 50lbs
  • Mechanically inclined with good trouble shooting skills
  • Class 5 Licence
  • Oilfield experience and/or knowledge.
  • First Aid, H2S, TDG and WHIMIS certificates
  • Railway Association of Canada (RAC) certification (provided by Torq Transloading)
  • Railway experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate.

NEWALTA- Operator, Permanent, Full-Time

Location:Unity, SK (Will be required to travel and work in Unity, Carruthers, Plover Lake) 

Position Description

Reporting directly to theBranch Manager, this position will be based out of Unity and provide coverage at Plover Lake, and Carrutherswhere required. The day to day responsibilities of this role will include: environmental and safety monitoring at our landfill site, unloading trucks, operating centrifuges, plant maintenance, and administrative duties as required.This will be a Full-Time employment opportunity with an 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the landfill environmental and safety monitoring
  • Address customer needs and communications, after-hours calls may be required
  • Look after proper preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Day to day operations will include unloading trucks, running centrifuge equipment, and plant maintenance work.
  • Conduct administrative duties such as booking in loads, waste profiles for customers, data entry, and communicating information where required.
  • Attend safety meetings, identify any safety concerns to supervisor and report all incidents
  • Provide guidance, scheduling, and direction to contracted or less experienced operators;
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment and general work area;
  • Ensure that required documentation is legible, accurate and completed on a timely basis;
  • Train on unfamiliar processes and equipment, within established guidelines, as required;
  • Acquire and maintain adequate certification as required;
  • Perform emergency operations activities as needed;
  • Perform mechanical and or equipment maintenance as required and/or assigned.
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required;
    • 4th or 5th class Power Engineering certification is preferred;
    • Valid driver’s license;
    • Previous experience with oilfield is an asset;
    • Experience with centrifuges, boilers, pumps, and other heavy equipment such as loaders
    • Mechanical ability and general knowledge of equipment maintenance is an asset;
    • Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively both written and verbally;
    • Experience working with Microsoft Office and other computer systems (e.g. SAP would be considered an asset but are not required);
    • Ability to perform heavy lifting;
    • Strong team player with the ability to work independently;
    • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required;
    • Open to working outdoors in various weather conditions;
    • Must be entitled to work in Canada
    • Ability to travel and work in facilities across Saskatchewan(50% of the role will be spent in Unity, 50% of the role will be spent between Carruthers and Plover Lake)
